Wacom Tablet “There is a problem with your tablet driver” Fix

The Wacom bamboo tablet on my computer recently started behaving erraticaly – part of the functions did not work anymore. Trying to access the Wacom preferences from the start menu or from the Control panel just brought up a “There is a problem with your tablet driver. Please reboot your system. If the problem persists please reinstall or update the driver.” message. I tried both and neither resulted in better performance of the driver/tablet.

After some surfing around the internet I found a rather simple solution. You need to use the Wacom Preference File Utility.

Run the utility and use the Remove button under All User Preferences. Please note that this function will remove any user defined preferences, but as it seems corrupt preferences are the thing that is blocking the driver from working properly.

The removal will take a few seconds and after that my tablet was working again as it should (and yours will hopefully too) 🙂

It should have installed with the official driver. If you don’t have it you should reinstall the driver from the official website of the producer (don’t use windows update automatic driver installation).
